‘Error of the Year’ collection: Chronicle makes the cut
Craig Silverman at Poynter, whose “Regret the Error” blog tracks plagiarism, fabrication and just plain dumb stuff, is out with his annual collection of the best and worst journalism errors and corrections. For “Error of the Year,” it’s a tie—between CNN and Fox News. In their rush to be first, each managed to get the same Supreme Court decision flat-out wrong (see Fox screen grab above), which is tough to do even by the greenest of interns. The Chronicle comes in under Silverman’s “other favorites” for this correction gem:
C.W. Nevius’ column about Most Holy Redeemer banning drag queen performers incorrectly stated that entertainer Peaches Christ appeared at an event at the church’s hall with a dildo shaped like a crucifix. He did not appear at the event, nor does he use the prop.
